Picture of a T-mobile store...but not the one I went to
This article is part of our series exploring what exactly the Palau digital residency ID can be used for.
I made my ninth attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID (“the ID”) on the week of October 16th, 2023
I tried to use the Palau ID to transfer a t-mobile telephone number to a new SIM card and telephone.
Result: unsuccessful.
Explanation: I had to go in-person into a T-mobile store in Las Vegas Nevada to transfer a telephone number to a new telephone. I was asked for an official government issued photo ID, part of T-mobile's security protocol. I handed my Palau digital residency ID to the T-mobile employee, who tried to proceed in her computer system by verifying my identity through the Palau ID. After several attempts, the T-mobile employee was unable to proceed, telling me that only options for international ID that appeared for her were to enter passport information.
I’ll continue trying to use the ID, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
