This article is part of our series exploring what exactly the Palau digital residency ID can be used for.
I made my 32nd attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID in November, 2025.Â
I tried to use the Palau ID to verify my identity to ship a package internationally from the United States to Slovakia via DHL.Â
Result:Â Successful.Â
Explanation: Shortly before Thanksgiving, I dropped off a shipment of documents at a DHL location in downtown Los Angeles for shipment to Slovakia. In order to verify my identity for customs purposes, the DHL employee assisting me requested my government issued photo ID.Â
I presented the Palau digital residency ID. The lady took it, made a faint sound of expressing surprise. She looked at it for a few seconds more then handed it back to me and completed processing the DHL shipment intake. Â
This attempted use of the Palau ID to ship a package internationally to Slovakia via DHL at the intake location in Los Angeles, California was therefore successful.Â
I’ll continue trying to use the Palau ID, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.Â
