Palau Digital Residency ID - To Purchase Alcohol from Target Store? (Field Report #7)

This article is part of our series exploring what exactly the Palau digital residency ID can be used for.

I made my seventh attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID in the week of September 18th, 2023.

I tried to use the ID to buy alcohol at a Target store in Los Angeles, California.

Result: successful.

Explanation: I went to a smaller Target store in Los Angeles, and picked up a six pack of Coors light beer (bottles). As with my last alcohol purchase, I left all other government issued ID in my car so as to force the cashier to decide whether he would sell me the alcohol just based on my Palau ID. I presented my Palau digital residency ID to the cashier who attempted to scan the document a few times. After failing to do so, he entered a number from the ID into his system. I asked the cashier: “Is it fine?” He said “Yea, it’s fine” and we completed the purchase.

Please direct all opinion emails about my beer choice to BuzzOff@nobodycares.com

This is the second attempted purchase of alcohol that I’ve made with the ID.

I’ll continue trying to use the ID, for other vital record requests, and other uses, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
