This article is part of our series exploring what exactly the Palau digital residency ID can be used for.
I made my 34th attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID in January, 2026.
I tried to use the Palau digital residency ID to check in to a Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Center (SDMI) in the Las Vegas area.
Result: Successful.
Explanation: I went to a Steinberg Diagnostic Imaging Center to get some medical imaging taken. At the check in, I was asked to provide a legal ID for the check-in employee to copy. I handed over my Palau digital ID, to which the assistant said “Do you have a driver license we can use?”
I replied: “I do, but I’d prefer to use this ID so I don’t have to have my private address copied.” The assistant replied: “Ok.”
I followed up: “Is that fine?”
The assistant replied: “Yes, that’s fine.”
He took the Palau ID, copied it then handed it back to me. I went into the waiting room and then a few minutes later was called in to have medical imaging taken.
Therefore, this attempted use of the Palau digital residency ID was successful. I’ll continue trying to use the Palau ID, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
