This article is part of our series exploring what exactly the Palau digital residency ID can be used for.
I made my 24th attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID (“the ID”) in November, 2024.
I tried to use the Palau ID to enable deposits, withdrawals, and trading on Binance crypto exchange while located in the United States.
Result: unsuccessful.
Explanation: I signed up with Binance crypto exchange.
After registering an account, I attempted to verify my identity to enable deposits, withdrawals, and trading, by using the Palau digital residency ID.
Binance’s KYC process allows an individual located in the United States to upload one of the following identity document types:
Driver’s License
ID Card
Passport
Residency Permit Card
Temporary Visa
I selected “ID Card” and proceeded to the next screen.
I laid down my Palau digital residency ID and captured a photo of the front and back, and uploaded both. After waiting just about a minute or so, Binance returned the unfortunate message:
“Your ID document country is unsupported. We don’t support the country that issues your ID document. Please try again with a different ID document.”
This attempted use case of the Palau digital residency ID for verifying identity with Binance is therefore unsuccessful.
I’ll continue trying to use the ID, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
